β° When to report
Report a dog attack as soon as possible. Calling Council immediately gives Rangers the best opportunity to investigate the incident, locate the dog or owner, and begin the investigation. You should also report roaming, aggressive and nuisance dogs promptly so Council can respond appropriately.

π Information you may need
Be prepared to provide:
- Date and time of the incident
- Location of the incident
- Details of any injuries sustained
- Owner details (if known)
- Description of the dog (breed, colour and size)
- Description of the owner (if known)
- Photographs of the dog, owner or injuries (if available)
- Witness names and contact details
Council Rangers will take a formal statement from you and may contact witnesses as part of their investigation. Investigations can take up to 28 days, depending on the complexity of the case.

If there is an immediate threat to life or a serious emergency, call 000.
If injuries are significant, seek medical or veterinary treatment immediately before reporting the incident to Council.
