⏰ When to report

Report a dog attack as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours of the incident. You should also report roaming, aggressive and nuisance dogs promptly so Council can investigate and respond appropriately.

Council also provides online reporting options for:

• Roaming dogs
• Barking dogs
• Nuisance cats
• Dead animals
• Other companion animal concerns.

📝 Information you may need

Be prepared to provide:

• Date and time of the incident
• Location of the incident
• Description of the dog(s)
• Details of what occurred
• Owner details (if known)
• Any photographs, videos or witness information that may assist Council's investigation

Providing as much information as possible helps Council investigate the incident effectively.

🚨 Emergency

If there is an immediate threat to life or a serious emergency, call 000.

If you find a roaming dog that poses a risk to public safety, contact Northern Beaches Council on 1300 434 434 as soon as possible. Rangers can also assist with scanning found dogs for microchips and reuniting them with their owners.

Even if the dog has left the area or no one was injured, reporting roaming or aggressive dog behaviour can help councils identify repeat incidents and intervene before someone or another animal is seriously harmed.
