β°Β When to report
Report a dog attack as soon as possible if you have been attacked or witnessed an attack involving a person or another animal. Council also encourages residents to report roaming, aggressive, nuisance or unrestrained dogs promptly so Rangers can investigate and respond appropriately. Lost and found animals should also be reported to Council as soon as possible to assist with reunification.

Council provides information and assistance for:
- Dog attacks
- Roaming and unrestrained dogs
- Aggressive and nuisance dogs
- Lost and found pets
- Council Pound services
- Companion animal registration and microchipping
- Responsible pet ownership
πΒ Information you may need
Be prepared to provide:
- Date and time of the incident
- Location of the incident
- Description of the dog(s)
- Details of what occurred
- Owner details (if known)
- Whether the dog is still roaming
- Any photographs, videos or witness information that may assist Council's investigation
For lost or found pets, Council recommends having the animal's microchip number (if known) and a detailed description available to assist Rangers.

If there is an immediate threat to life or a serious emergency, call 000.
For urgent after-hours situations involving a dog attack, contact NSW Police on 000. If you find a roaming dog and it is safe to do so, try to safely contain the animal before contacting Glen Innes Severn Council Rangers on 0417 890 889 or Council on (02) 6730 2300.
